A foreign material or cavity enclosed within a host gem material.[1]

What it means

Inclusions may be crystals, fluids, gases, growth features, or combinations of these.

Why it matters

They can record formation history and support natural/synthetic, treatment, and sometimes origin investigations.

What it does not tell you

A single inclusion may be ambiguous and requires context and expertise.
